Over 14 years since the release of the original TimeSplitters, and 10 years since the last TimeSplitters, the fan-made recreation of TimeSplitters: Rewind has begun to manifest.

After Crytek halted the development of TimeSplitters 4 and gave the go-ahead for the game to continue being made by fans of the series, we finally see some notable progress. The pace of development is definitely slow, but it’s good to see some news to show that the project isn’t being dropped.

We see the classic art-style reinvigorated in both of the models.

Being run on the CryEngine in HD quality, TimeSplitters: Rewind has comfirmed a PC release, but the developers are hoping for a Mac and PS4 release in the future.

Rewind is entirely focused on online multiplayer with dedicated server tools being available to fans.

The entire game (provided it is actually finished) will be available for free and will support mods and custom content as the devs want to ensure that “everyone has complete control over how they experience the game.”

No release date is available as of yet, but hints of an upcoming beta/demo is something for fans to keep an eye out for on their official website.
