XCOM 2 under development by Firaxis Games

Continuing the XCOM franchise, XCOM 2 has been announced by Take Two Interactive three years after the release of XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Xbox 360, PS3, Mac, and PC. This upcoming sequel takes place 20 years in the future with humanity reeling after an alien threat takes over the world.

Contrary to how XCOM: Enemy Unknown operated, XCOM 2 puts players on the attacking end of things as the invading force. Gameplay-wise, Firaxis Studios will be incorporating procedurally generated levels to “make each experience unique to the player.”

Jake Solomon, creative director for XCOM explained they’ve listened to fan requests and comments and are adding some new features to accomodate what the gamers want.

“We’re thrilled to implement long-time fan requested features such as procedural levels and modding support, as well as adding more of what makes XCOM great like new aliens, enemies and soldier classes.”

More details are to be revealed throughout the month.

XCOM 2 is scheduled to release on PC November of this year.
