Star Fox Prepares For Launch!

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has announced that Star Fox Zero has an official release date of April 22, 2016. During the news conference, designer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed additional footage showing the improvements that have been made in the recent months since it was delayed last November.

At E3 2015, Star Fox Zero received somewhat of a lukewarm reception as the less than stellar graphics and the confusing user-interface failed to generate enthusiasm for most fans. However, Nintendo has taken the fans reactions into account as the company spent the last several months adding polish to the game. The footage shown used 1080p/60 frames-per-second, illustrating the HD capabilities of the Wii U. The result gives the Arwing and the galaxy and a sleek luster that accentuates Star Fox’s distinct art style.

Another feature that amplifies the experience is that the voice-over work in the game comes from the Wii U GamePad. Although a small detail, it helps simulate the feeling that the player is Fox sitting within the cockpit. Star Fox Zero is also bringing back the multiple paths feature that was in Star Fox 64. Older players will remember this feature as it gives the player more freedom to explore the level and adds greater incentive for a replay.

With all the improvements since the delay, Star Fox Zero is ready for takeoff this Spring.
