Mass Effect, one of the highest rated franchises of the last generation is at again for the new consoles. Details and photos have been revealed during Bioware’s San Diego Comic Con panel and many changes as well as returning features were noted.
Expected to be set in an entirely new galaxy, the newest Mass Effect will not actually be called Mass Effect 4. Instead it will simply be called Mass Effect. Perhaps the biggest headlines for the next installment in the franchise are the incorporation of a drivable vehicle (Mako) and a co-operative multiplayer mode.
The photos available right now are not very clear, but the game is expected to take a massive jump in the visuals department as well. Now running on the Frostbite 3 engine, Mass Effect will give players an entirely new story to follow and with the new generation of consoles available, they’ll be sure to take advantage of the added resources.
With the inclusion of the Mako the developers will put a greater focus on exploring planets and discovering the unknown. While the galaxy itself will be different from the past, many of the same elements will remain.
One of the statements made by the panel that peaked the interest of the media was the uncertainty of the player race. Could we see an alien character playing the lead role of the game? The panel also mentioned giving players as many choices as possible again. It would not be all too surprising to see them go a step further and let you customize which species your character is.
Be ready for more choices and more exploration of the unknown in the next-gen Mass Effect.
No information has been revealed regarding a release date or which platforms/consoles the game will be available on.
