Goat Simulator releasing on PS3 and PS4 August 11

Goat Simulator originally released on Steam April 1, 2014 and was ported to Xbox One a year later, April 2015. Now the beautiful insanity of Goat Simulator is coming to PlayStation consoles next month after a collaboration with Coffee Stain Studios.

“You no longer have to fantasize about being a goat, your dreams have finally come true!”

Everything the game has to offer including flying goats and explosive mayhem throughout the open world is there for players to enjoy. Destroy as much as you can whether it be solo or with friends in local co-op modes.

A four-player local co-op for PS4 and a two-player local co-op on the PS3 is available for players to battle for the highest score.

The most unique aspect of this release is a new GoatVR — “the most authentic “simulated GoatVR experience” that doesn’t require a helmet or anything.” The part where they connect it to the actual headset isn’t quite done yet, but “we felt it better to stay ahead of the crowd and let it out into the wild.”

The game’s disclaimer reads:

“Disclaimer Goat Simulator is a completely stupid game and, to be honest, you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe pool your money together with your friends and buy a real goat. Key Features • You can be a goat • Get points for wrecking stuff – brag to your friends that you’re the alpha goat • MILLIONS OF BUGS! We’re only eliminating the crash-bugs, everything else is hilarious and we’re keeping it • In-game physics that bug out all the time • Seriously look at that goat’s neck • You can be a goat”

If you can look past the disclaimer, Goat Simulator will be available for $9.99 when it releases August 11.

Shenmue 3 progress: $2 million goal nearly doubled; more stretch goals added

Shenmue 3, the continuation of the series that served as an incredible piece of advancing the gaming industry back in 1999 (and in 2001), is benefiting from the die-hard fans and love for the former games with the title shattering the record for fastest crowd-funding of a game.

Roughly two weeks after the KickStarter fund’s announcement at Sony’s E3 2015 conference the title has accumulated $3.75 million — nearly double that of the $2 million that Yu Suzuki and his team initially looked to acquire.

This success has prompted the addition of 13 new stretch goals ranging from more expansive language options to other general improvements to gameplay and area sizes.

As excitement continues to build, Yu Suzuki spoke to fans personally on twitch.tv and shared some more details on the stretch goals and on the current direction of Shenmue 3.

What are the Baisha Stretch Goals?

The $5 million Srtetch Goal will focus on the area, Baisha. This will be something new and fun I would like to include for Shenmue 3. It will include siege and infiltration events based off the Warring Kingdoms period in Chinese history. The events will be very Shenmue-like and will fit into the game naturally and will not be difficult to grasp. There is also the Character Perspective System. It is a character change system, but in Shenmue, it will work a little differently. It will allow you to play as Shenhua or Ren, besides Ryo. The choices that Shenhua or Ren would make would be different from those of Ryo’s because their personalities are different. It will bring out their individual character and add another element of enjoyment to the game. There are Stretch Goals up to $11 million, and I would like to explain those next week!

How will Shenmue 3 be different at $3 million, $5 and $10 million?

At the $3 million level, Shenmue 3 will be more story oriented. Going to $5 million, there will be features not present in 1 & 2, features that I really want to see in Shenmue 3 like the Warring Kingdom scenarios. At the $10 million level, the area Choubu will get a big expansion, and be like Dobuita in Yokosuka where you will have a lot of options to explore and have fun. I hope we can shoot for that goal and make Shenmue 3 more open world like.

An exact release date for Shenmue 3 is not yet available, but Suzuki does expect a trial version to release some time in 2017.

Suzuki has also reiterated time and time again the appreciation he has for Sony and how close they are as a partner. While a release on another console besides the PS4 has not been denied, the likelihood that it does appear on any non-Sony platform is very unlikely.

Capcom’s KITCHEN Morpheus project sheds light on a genre seldom considered with VR

With the dawn of the VR age coming just a few years after the release of the new generation consoles just beginning to come to fruition the majority of the games showcased at the likes of E3, gamescom, and other gaming conventions or major gaming-related events has seemed to focus on some niche games along with some creative ways to play games designed for the traditional TV experience.

Now, as the ball starts rolling with virtual reality amid the major announcements pertaining to Oculus RIft, Morpheus, and SteamVR, Capcom is creating their own venture into a genre that has seemingly been omitted from the major VR spotlight — horror.

During E3 2015 the Japanese publisher/developer showed off a game — or more accurately, a tech demo currently known as “KITCHEN,” that is designed to showcase just how immersive a VR headset experience is. At the recent E3 convention the demo was made available, albeit access to it was restricted to the general public.

The experience is designed to be as atmospheric as possible to bring “an unprecedented level of sensory immersion.”

To envelope a player to this extreme of a level Capcom makes use of the upcoming Sony PlayStation 4 VR headset, Morpheus,  DTS Headphone: X to give players a great sense of surround sound, and a new unnamed game engine. These tools combined with the 1080p, 60fps output (capable of being upped to the Morpheus’ 120 frames per second output) make the play-through feel as life like as any game possibly can.

While KITCHEN isn’t exactly a new IP to expect from Capcom, it is something that heavily hits at what they’re considering and implementing in more titles we’ll see in the future when Morpheus releases on
PS4 and other VR headsets come to their respective consoles.

Fallout 4 gameplay, story, world editing, customization details and release date announced

E3 starts off with a bang.

After being teased almost two weeks ago Bethesda’s Fallout 4 reveal showed fans everything they could have imagined and so much more.

A bit of the Fallout 4’s story background was revealed showing the primary character and his family escaping to Vault 111 amid their first realization of the nuclear attack. While not all the details are revealed, your character is able to survive the nukes as the lone survivor of Vault 111. He is awoken and rises to the outside world — 200 years later.

The destroyed city of Boston will certainly be fun for fans to explore with a vast map size. Todd Howard, director of Fallout 4, reiterated over and over the ambition of the game and the emphasis on improving combat.

The presentation showed improved first-person/third-person gameplay with a much higher quality FPS feel to the game. Along with that, the Vats system will also be noticeably better as well.

Though when the combat dies down, your best friend throughout Fallout 3, the pip-boy is now vastly improved as well. A more fluent UI, audio track compatibility, mini-games, and more make the pip-boy better than ever. And now, for those who want one… they can get one. A real pip-boy is now on sale. (Yes. And just as Todd Howard seemed to start toning things down, the big news was ramped up again with a new world customization and settlement reveal. Players can now scavenge for supplies and scrap throughout the world and use it to create their own haven complete with defenses, furniture, and completely customizable buildings.

The personalization options don’t end there though. Everything now “has a purpose.” Every item and piece of material you scavenge for is now available to be utilized and implemented into your weaponry and armor. The variety of weapons immediately skyrockets with simple guns being edited into powerful firearms.

The Witcher 3 continues to lead the charts; sells 4 million copies in two weeks

With back-to-back weeks as the leader on the UK’s Charttrack, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been a bonafide hit with virtually universal praise as an open-world RPG. As fans of the game enjoy playing CD Projekt Red has benefited with four million copies sold worldwide.

The developer of the series, CD Projekt, promises they wont let fans down with the love they’re being given.

Co-founder of the company, Marcin Iwinski said in an open letter to fans “you can be sure that we’ll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you’re telling us Wild Hunt already is!”

The expansions referred to, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, will release in October and early 2016 respectively. Hearts of Stone will retail at $9.99 while Blood and Wine will be $19.99. Both of the DLC releases are expected to offer a tremendous amount of content with Iwinski claiming they could would include more than some stand-alone games.

“”We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back. We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there.”

The Witcher 3 is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC for $59.99.

Fallout 4’s complete story, gameplay information, and release plan leaked

For the vast majority of the time the detailed rumors explaining exactly what will be in a certain game are blatantly false. This was not one of those times. A former Bethesda employee that was fired nearly a year ago for releasing “confidential information” issued a detailed post as revenge for being axed. The post explains everything about Fallout 4.

The employee, Sandra Reed, was spot on with the release of the Fallout 4 trailer and the setting of the game being in Boston. Her revenge post was listed on the Fallout subreddit of reddit.com. Some notable information from her reveal include an October 2015 release date and also another Xbox 360 and PS3 release in 2016. The game’s plot and some information regarding the gameplay has also been revealed.

Before you all say: "TROLL!" "LIAR!", etc, you can all can your mouths and ask one of the Bethesda Employees about Me (my username is my name) and they will confirm I worked for Bethesda. I am strictly posting this in "Revenge" for them firing me.
Anyways, I worked at Bethesda Game Studios in Maryland up until last month before I was fired for releasing confidential information (but it was an accident!) and so here I am, sitting unemployed with my 2 kids thanks to those fools. So, I wanted to say: I worked on, and played, Fallout 4. Yes, I did.
I want to confirm that the recent leaks about Fallout 4 are true. In Fallout 4, you are in Boston, and it takes place in the year 2287, exactly 10 years after Fallout 3. In Fallout 4, mixing things up, we are making the game more "Story Based" and the player character will finally talk, and narrate his storyline.
At the beginning of the game, you create your character (You can only be a male in the main story), and afterward, you start the game with a blast. After the blast, you awake to see the building you are standing inside blown apart and your wife, Lydia, dead. Robots and Androids are storming the place, killing and kidnapping the people inside. You, known as "The Officer", must escape and get revenge.
LOCATION: Fallout 4 is set in and around Boston and the surrounding countryside.
The downtown area is entirely controlled by "The Institute", a group of techies and scholars, as well as researchers, who devote their lives to technology. The countryside area is a "Wasteland" with small towns and settlements, as well as vaults here and there. Logan International Airport is taken over by the Brotherhood of steel, who are there trying to control the technology, and are currently waging a war against the institute, as they both have disagreements as to who should be in control of the technology in the area.
Meanwhile, Vault 79, located outside of Boston, is under the control by "The Railroad", a group of people dedicated to helping Androids escape the institute.
The map of Fallout 4 is about 3 times the size of Skyrim. The reason for this is to make a much more realistic and interactive world, that players can always find new things, even if they have played it for years after release.
FACTIONS:
  • The Railroad returns from Fallout 3, where you only had a small glimpse of it during the "Replicated man" quest. In this game, they are a full faction and are much larger.
  • The Brotherhood Of Steel returns and control Logan Airport. This BOS is not the same as seen in Fallout 3. Instead, a similar BOS to the ones seen in the classic Fallout games as well as Fallout New Vegas make an appearance, only caring about technology, and will obtain it by force if they have to.
  • The Institute returns from Fallout 3, and is headed by a man named Thomas Littleton. They are the primary antagonists of the game, and control most of Boston Downtown. Their patrols in Downtown Boston are the counterpart in this game to the Super Mutants in Downtown DC in Fallout 3.
  • Talon Company also returns, but in a much smaller force. They base operations outside of a bunker located in Downtown Boston.
  • Raiders return too.
CREATURES:
  • Super Mutants return, in the same form as the ones from Fallout 3, keeping in line with the "East Coast" mutants.
  • Feral Ghouls return as well.
  • Vicious Dogs return.
  • Feral Cats are new, and exclusively located in one of the vaults.
  • Spore Carriers return from Fallout New Vegas, and are located in sewers.
RETURNING CHARACTERS:
  • Madison Li returns from Fallout 3. 10 years prior to Fallout 4, she left D.C after the Loss of James and having thought she lost the lone wanderer as well. Having had enough, she left to Boston, as it is home to one of the biggest Scientific facilities. Madison will once again be voiced by Jennifer Massey.
  • Three Dog returns as well, although he is only heard on the radio, and not seen in person. People believe the radio is not actually live, and that it is simply a looped recording. (Based on the fact that you CAN kill him in Fallout 3.) He is voiced by Erik Todd Dellums.
  • Bryan Wilks returns from Fallout 3. Yes, the little boy you saved from Grayditch. He is now 19 years old and is a mercenary, working with Talon Company. He bases his reason as to working with them on "Once someone saved me, and I wanted to be just like them!" He is voiced by Jerry Jewell.
  • Other Fallout 3 characters return as well, but only through save transfer (Detailed below).
PLATFORMS:
Fallout 4 will be available for a wide range of platforms after launch. The first version that will be released is being developed for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. This version uses a brand new engine built from the ground up to take advantage of the power of next gen systems. Absolutely everything is new, and no assets or scrips are being used from Fallout 3/NV or Skyrim.
Fallout 4 will also be available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This version is also being developed by Bethesda Game Studios, but will release a year after the advanced version. This version runs on the Creation Engine, the same engine that powered Skyrim. This is being done so that PS3/360 users can play the game without problem. Everything will be the same in this version as the advanced version, except for the graphics, gameplay and some additional features.
Also, Fallout 4 on PS3 and Xbox 360, last I knew, was around 20GB+. This means that it will most definitely require install. Also, players of the PS3/360 version will be pleased to know that Fallout 4 will be able to import your Fallout 3 save, and adapt choices you made from that game for Fallout 4. This means that some additional characters could pop up, depending on if you killed them or not in Fallout 3. Also, some story references from Fallout 3 will be mentioned. Did the BOS save the capitol wasteland? Or did it fall? Did Sarah turn on the purifier and die? Or did the lone wanderer do it? It might get mentioned depending on your choices!
DEVELOPERS: Fallout 4 is being developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the same developer behind Fallout 3.
GAMEPLAY:
Fallout 4 plays similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. You can play in Third Person or First Person, or on the PC version, a new "Classic Mode" that will put the game into birds eye view and play similar to the classic Fallout Games. (Although by my experience, it actually looked and played more like the PS2/Xbox Fallout: Brotherhood of steel.)
Unlike Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, you can only play as a man. This is due to the storyline requiring it. However, after the main story is over, you can have a gender change. BGS did not rule out Females for possible standalone DLC, however.
Additionally, full support for Trophies/Achievements are present on all console versions, and full steamworks support is present for the PC version.
PROGRESS: By my estimate, Fallout 4's PS4/XboxOne/PC version is about 40% complete, while the PS3/Xbox360 version is about 15% complete. Both versions are being developed by BGS.
RELEASE DATE: BGS has a "Roadmap" already planned out for Fallout 4 and a spinoff. I already was informed about it from the studio when I worked there, and I read it. Basically, the roadmap is this:
  1. June 2015 - Fallout 4 reveal at E3, trailer only
  2. July 2015 - First gameplay trailers
  3. August 2015 - More information
  4. October 2015 - PS4/Xbox One/PC release
  5. November 2015 - First DLC
  6. December 2015 - Second DLC, as well as PS3/360 version release
  7. January 2016 - Third DLC
  8. March 2016 - Forth DLC
  9. April 2016 - Fifth and Final DLC
  10. June 2016 - Fallout Spinoff revealed, in development by Behaviour Interactive.
  11. October 2016 - Fallout Spinoff released for PS4/Xbox One/PC

Resident Evil 0 announced for 2016 release

Capcom will be adding another Resident Evil title to the libraries of Playstation and Xbox consoles as well as PC. Resident Evil 0 was announced early Tuesday in a Japanese games event confirming a remastering of the prequel to the original Resident Evil game.

Zero takes place just before the start of the original Resident Evil’s “Mansion Incident.” The announcement comes at a perfect time with the Resident Evil HD remastering fresh in the minds of many gamers.

The zombie franchise has had great success as of late as they try to recapture the “heart” of what got the franchise to this point. Similar to how Resident Evil HD operates, Zero will look to optimize the graphics and improve the visuals side of things while maintaining the gameplay of it’s initial 2002 release.

More gameplay elements have been suggested to be added, but nothing is concrete as of yet.

The entire original staff that had worked on the original Gamecube release will be returning for development of this new version releasing next year.

Even the original Director, Koji Oda, will be returning to lead the project.

“Our next mission is a title that I originally directed 13 years ago… back then I never imagined I would get the chance to remaster this game.”

As of right now the only information being released is that it will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and PC in early 2016.

New features and first look trailer for Madden NFL 16

The latest iteration of EA Sports’ Madden Football series will have a greater focus on the passing game this time around, and EA’s recent screenshot release shows a bit of what to expect from Madden 16.

While the game largely looks the same, Madden always adds some very minor details to improve the aesthetics and fine tunings to the gameplay to make a game that feels even better. Madden 16 puts the spotlight on receivers with new animations off-the-line between the defenders and the wideouts.

EA promises greater “WOW moments” with a new risk/reward catch and pass-defend system for more exciting explosive plays. The system is benefited by a improved QB mechanics including body-relative throws and greater touch control on the ball.

Madden 16 is due to release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PS3 August 25 for $59.99.

An additional “Deluxe Edition” will also be available for $69.99 giving fans 36 Pro Packs and a Playmaker Pack in the Ultimate Team mode. Also tying in as a promotion for the popular Ultimate Team mode, gamers preorder the game now can get $15 worth of content with 10 Pro Packs and a Playmaker Pack.

EASHL returns in NHL 16; more information released

After going into its release with great expectations, NHL 15 struggled to deliver on what many expected of the 2014 Best Sports Game winner (E3 Critic Awards). The game failed to give players the full selection of game modes that had been a crucial aspect of the franchise for the previous seven years. Now, EA Sports is coming back with a new focus in NHL 16 as they look to build a great game around the fantastic gameplay that’s already in place.

The most notable game mode to return is the beloved EA Sports Hockey League (EASHL) and its 6v6 gameplay offering players the opportunity to create their own character and take him or her online as a part of a club. While EASHL and the other game modes were incorporated into previous generation versions of NHL 15, the new generation was left with little variety in the ways players could play. This year of NHL looks to offer everything that should have been there since the last NHL release.

Outside of the online team focused mode, the Be A GM mode that is apparent in all EA Sports games in some fashion is also getting some fine-tuning a minor additions. A new “Player Morale” aspect is being incorporated giving each player on a team a designated personality that needs to appropriately meshed with the team as a whole. GMs can now call team meetings or adjust the roster to ensure that player performance is at the highest level it can be.

Another major drawback to NHL 15 was the extremely toned down Be A Pro mode. Now major features are again returning like a progression from CHL to NHL, and the ability to sim to your next shift rather than wait on the bench.

Gameplay wise NHL 16 will add improved skating techniques for “refined movements with your skater” and seamless puck pickups create quicker and more fluid animations “giving you more time and control to make your next move.”

And how about some more dynamic beard growth?! NHL 16 will add accurate representations of beard patterns, length, thickness, and growth rates for individual players.

NHL 16 is expected to release in early-to-mid September only on Xbox One and PS4 as the development team drops support for the old generation.

Digital game revenue continues rapid expansion | Grows 15% over the last year

SuperData Research has detailed just how successful the video game industry has grown in digital-only games. In the United States the digital revenue of the industry has broken the billion mark at $1.1 billion for the first time ever. The jump is a 15% increase compared to last year.

The entire industry as a whole has benefited greatly outside of social games. The free-to-play browser-based games and phone games often connected to facebook or twitter have suffered significantly. This section of the industry relies heavily on users buying in-app purchases, and for the first time in six months the average spending per user dropped to $40.

Highlighting the successes though, is Grand Theft Auto V and its PC release. GTA V has already locked the most successful game launch ever and even today the quality experience is still appreciated. 441 thousand PC copies of the open-world shooter have been sold in the United States.

The strangle-hold of digital games is beginning already with massive gains in digital sales being reported by Activision ($538 million in Q1 2015), Square Enix ($233 million in Q1 2015), and Ubisoft ($124 million Q4 2014). Electronic Arts has penciled in a $602 million total revenue (year over year) and with the recent release of Battlefield Hardline, the upcoming release of Star Wars Battlefront, and the growing EA Access service on Xbox One, that number will certainly grow.

As it stands now the control of digital games is just beginning and gamers are responding positively to the change. No longer are developers and publishers scared of burning bridges with the relationships between themselves and retailers. The ease of access and improved functionality of digital games make it a bad time for brick-and-mortar stores like Gamestop.
