Bungie and Activision look to be on pace for one of the most successful games in gaming history.
Bungie and Activision look to be on pace for one of the most successful games in gaming history.

For those that are still holding off purchasing either the Xbox One or Playstation 4, Bungie is giving fans an opportunity to easily transfer over their Destiny experience to the new generation.

While some gamers are still holding on to their Xbox 360s or Playstation 3s, they’ll now be able to bring at least one game with them over to the new consoles. Bungie will be giving all buyers of the digital version of Destiny on the Xbox 360 or PS3 the ability to upgrade their game to the new generation for a limited time.

Whether you buy just the base game, the limited edition, or the Ghost edition, you’ll be given the same rendition when you upgrade while all your in-game possessions, stats, and character progression completely transfer over as well.

Even after you transfer to the new console, you’ll still be able to play your game on the previous gen console with no draw-backs.

Bungie and Activision are preparing for a massive blockbuster with Destiny, and their incredible popularity gives them the ability to give fans what is essentially two copies of the game next week as the game releases (September 9th).

A new look at Destiny’s universe in Bungie’s launch trailer

Bungie showcases Destiny’s vast diversity of environments with their latest gameplay trailer.

From the deserts of Mars, to the stormy chaos on Venus, to the ice-covered world of Europa, Destiny has a variety of settings that can bring an immense amount of immersion and awe to the landscapes and massive structures within them.

Europa will hold a unique setting for players to explore with its ice-ridden world.
Europa will hold a unique setting for players to explore with its ice-ridden world.

Bungie’s history with dazzling skyboxes looks to live on as well. In the developer’s original franchise, Halo, the skies were always highlighted by the Halo ring that brought a clear realization of the grand scale of the universe.

Now in Destiny players will notice the planets, stars, and storms displayed beautifully above the firefights and battles heroes engage in. The resources now available to Bungie allow them to more easily allude to the magnitude of Destiny’s universe.

The combat looks to be sharp and exciting as well. The special abilities presented in the new gameplay trailer shows how players can take advantage of their strength as they grow and level their character.

Destiny will be releasing September 9th on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, and Playstation 3.

Another planet gameplay trailer for Destiny — Venus

Bungie’s reveal of each planet continues and the excitement for Destiny stays high. Their latest trailer showcases a dark and mystic world that will surely hold some secrets.

The primary enemy players will encounter on and beneath the stormy and jungle covered surface of Venus will be a time-traveling partly-robotic alien species — the Vex.

The Vex’s appear to be simple mindless killing machines that have to dominate human civilization and the environment they settled in seems perfect for that. Venus was once home to a great deal of significant scientific discoveries in Destiny’s universe.

Maybe players will be able to uncover answers to the mysteries regarding the Vex species and their background during their adventures on Venus, but until the release of the game details on their story will rightfully remain obscure.

Destiny will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, and Playstation 3 on September 9th.

New Destiny Mars trailer

The red planet will surely be a popular destination for players. The beauty of the desolate setting is simply remarkable.

The new trailer emphasizes the vast world to explore and the chaos that lays beneath it. The lore of Destiny’s universe states that Mars was once an incredible thriving city, but has since collapsed since the darkness began.

The two primary creatures players will likely encounter while exploring Mars are the Cabal and the Vex.

The Cabals are one of the largest species players will encounter throughout Destiny. They come from a military-industrial complex and live to conquer others.

The Vex will also be a major creature/robot on Venus, but are also evident on other planets as well. Vex’s most distinct characteristic is their ability to travel through time and launch endless waves of metal armies with the desire to dominate human civilization.

Destiny will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4, and Playstation 3 on September 9th.

Halo 5 Guardians – New trailer

Guardians will have a lot of expectations, but 343i is prepared to surpass them.
Guardians will have a lot of expectations, but 343i is prepared to surpass them.

343i is looking to their past experience with Bungie to ensure a high-quality next-gen Halo for fans to enjoy.

Halo 2 was known for its incredible competitive multiplayer and their execution of a well balanced online-arena experience.  Halo 5 guardians looks to bring that back with an identical ranking system and the decision to forgo loadouts for your spartan.

With 4v4 team modes and seven maps included, veteran Halo fans should be very optimisitic with the direction that 343 Industries is heading with Guardians’ multiplayer.

The beta, available to those who purchase the Master Chief Collection, is due December 29 and will run until January 18.

Players’ Destiny beta progress not transferring | Game prepared for smooth launch

Destiny's beta helped Activision and Bungie create a lot of buzz for the game's September release.
Destiny’s beta helped Activision and Bungie create a lot of buzz for the game’s September release.

All that work for nothing? That’s what Bungie is telling those who took part in their recent beta.

Those who played during their select time frame while Bungie was testing their server capacity will be receiving an in-game nameplate for their profile.

Destinynameplatebeta

But Bungie’s weekly update revealed the rest of the character progress, acquired loot, and various collectibles found throughout the game will be wiped away for the full release.

If the rest of you haven’t gathered the painful truth from the eulogy yet, our Beta characters won’t transfer to the final version of Destiny. The vaults have been cleaned out, too.”

While disappointing, it’s not all that surprising given Bungie’s history taking the same action with the betas of both Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Still, the beta was a massive success for Bungie/Activision. Over 4.6 million players played the Destiny beta and the mass amount of preorders for the IP is on a record-breaking pace.

No major changes to come just before release, but some minor tweaks and changes to clean up any issues are being made to tune the gameplay.

One of Bunige’s designers Tyson Green reiterated the benefit the beta has given them.

“Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”

The servers look capable, the gameplay looks sharp, and the hype is massive. It seems everything for Destiny is set and ready for its September 9th release.

Bungie and Activision’s efficiency with handling the development and marketing of Destiny will likely result in one of the smoothest and most successful major IP launches ever for consoles.

Destiny preorders on pace for a new IP record

Destiny's beta helped Activision and Bungie create a lot of buzz for the game's September release.
Destiny’s beta helped Activision and Bungie create a lot of buzz for the game’s September release.

Activision/Blizzard’s second quarter financial results release shows that there is good reason for the tremendous amount of excitement surrounding Destiny.

The quarterly report makes very exciting news for investors and fans of the game in general. “…we believe [Destiny] will be the largest new intellectual property launch in videogame history…” the release reported

The company states that current pace for preorders is “tracking towards an industry record.” With 4.6 million gamers playing just the beta (the largest new console IP beta ever), the company will almost certainly reach their expectations.

With the confidence from the developer and the wide-spread fondness for the game from fans, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg spoke to the company’s plan to move forward with Destiny.

“we learned a lot by watching players engage with the game and hearing their feedback and Bungie is now making tweaks to optimize the game … I would describe these as tweaks and not major changes as we saw the fundamentals of the game to be very strong.”

Hirshberg also noted that feedback for the game was “nearly universally positive.” So for the very few fans that may have any gripes with the game and were hoping for change, you’re likely going to be let down.

However for the rest of Destiny fans, the hype for the September 9th release of the FPS is very much justified.

Head to the moon in the Destiny beta!

Playstation's twitter feed shows a look at the new moon gameplay in the Destiny Beta
Playstation’s twitter feed shows a look at the new moon gameplay in the Destiny Beta

With only one day presumably left of the Destiny’s beta, Bungie is giving players limited-time access to the moon and additional missions to explore.

The developer is currently trying to test their servers capacity and trying to gauge how prepared they are for the full release and those who logged on during their test period earlier today received a unique nameplate for playing.

While the Beta is rumored to close tomorrow, Bungie has yet to define a definite end.

The Destiny Beta ends when we say it ends. For days now, press releases have circulated that foretold of the end on July 27th. The Wolf, our Theoretical Physicist, has told me that he wants some room to maneuver close to the conclusion of our little social experiment. So, I’m not telling you exactly when. Please play until we nail this thing shut.

The beta is currently free on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 and will have its full release on consoles September 9th, this year.
